My name is Johannes Basson and I am a Software Engineer / Consultant based in Washington, D.C. specializing in the intersection of AI and Cybersecurity. I have 5 years experience in Software Engineering and spent the last year focused on developing AI enabled Cybersecurity applications. My Story
Growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa taught me the importance of education and hard work. In South Africa, a person must work tirelessly everyday to create their own path towards success. I co-founded a small business and grew it to a profitable exit in 2022.
In 2018, without ever having visited the country, I moved to the United States to marry my wife. The prospect of starting over at 28 years old was daunting but I knew how to work hard and bet on myself - something that the United States rewards. After graduating summa cum laude from American University, I accepted a position at a top consulting firm where I started my journey into Cybersecurity and AI.
While working full time, I was accepted to Johns Hopkins University (and subsequently Georgia Tech) to pursue my masters in Computer Science.
Since moving to the U.S, I have become a sole U.S. Citizen, and have rebuilt my career and have continued to grow intellectually and professionally.
